Rigid core and flexible vinyl
Rigid-core products may use constructions described as SPC or WPC; the label alone does not establish performance. Flexible glue-down vinyl depends on the specified adhesive and substrate preparation. Check dent resistance, approved rooms, temperature limits, repair approach and commercial or residential warranty for the exact SKU.
Click together or glue down?
A floating click floor connects planks without attaching the field to the substrate. A glue-down floor adheres to a prepared surface. Their requirements for flatness, movement, transitions, fixed cabinetry and moisture differ. Choose the system for the room and installation conditions, then follow its instructions.
Finish is more than colour
Consider texture, sheen, bevel depth, plank width and the number of distinct printed faces. Repeated patterns can look different in a large room than on a single sample. A low-sheen finish may soften reflections; actual appearance still depends on lighting and the product.
Compare evidence, not a single number
Ask for wear-layer units, total thickness, the approved installation instructions and any product-specific emissions or acoustic documentation you need. Check the scope of certification for that product. VinylFloors.ca is an independent HAUSE resource and is not a manufacturer endorsement.
