Water-resistant is not a basement repair
A flooring product described as waterproof does not make a basement, wall, slab or complete assembly waterproof. Resolve leaks, water entry and drainage concerns before covering the floor. Ask what the warranty says about moisture from below, mould and flood events.
Document the slab
Ask your installer to identify the slab, required moisture testing and any compatible mitigation system. Flatness, cracks and surface contamination can affect the installation. Do not cover an unexplained damp area and assume the new floor solves it.
Comfort and temperature
Check that the product is approved for the room conditions and any radiant heating. Review the approved underlay, vapour-related requirements and temperature controls together. Extra padding is not automatically compatible with a click-lock system.
Include the practical details
Account for basement stairs, posts, closets, utility access and transitions at doors. Measure separate rectangular sections without counting overlaps. If the room has been flooded, discuss appropriate drying and remediation before flooring work.
Bring it back to your space.
